This year's "Celebrity Spokesdog" contest was by far the most successful contest we've had to date. The stories were compelling and heart-warming. The judging was very difficult. HSHV thanks all of the people and dogs that sent in their essays.

A STAR WAS BORN and then ADOPTED!

After reading over fifty entries, we have found our winner. Congratulations to Avery Nowosielski and her dog Libby. Avery is nine years old and a 3rd grader at Pleasant Ridge Elementary School in Saline, MI. Her essay highlighted the many reasons that Libby should be chosen as the winner.

In Avery's own words, she said that . . .

"People ask us where we got such a good dog and we tell them of course, the Humane Society of Huron Valley. They say they didn't know they could get such an adorable dog at the humane society. So she's your little advertiser. We like to think she opens people's minds about shelter dogs."

Avery also let us know that Libby will WALK but because her tail is "tiny-eeny" she might not be able to WAG too much.

We thank the Nowosielski family for adopting Libby in January of 2006 from HSHV and for giving her a loving, forever home.
