Lucas Loves His Dogs!

Lucas loves his two dogs, Sully and Watson, both adopted from HSHV. Lucas turned six on October 26th and sent out invitations to his birthday party which encouraged friends and family to make a small donation to the homeless animals at HSHV. We thank Lucas for his generosity and we thank all the the wonderful people that helped make Lucas's birthday a great success for him and the animals at HSHV. To see Lucas's invitation click here!

Team Work and a Good Idea Benefits HSHV!

Cheers for Cori Brandimore, Jacque Brandimore, Kristi Erikson, Katie Erikson, David Erikson, and Phoebe Routledge! These fantastic kids held a garage sale with all proceeds going to HSHV. They thought of the idea after seeing a TV commercial about helping homeless animals. In addition to the generous donation, they gave HSHV clean towels, sheets, and hamster cages.
Thanks for all your hard work and for supporting HSHV!

Kailyn Bondoni - Caring and Talented!

Nine year old Kailyn Bondoni recently turned her concern for animals to action with HSHV just one of the local area shelters to benefit from her handiwork. During her summer break, Kailyn raised donation money by making and selling "Critter Cards".
She also crafted beautiful fleece beds to comfort the animals awaiting adoption. To maintain the integrity of girl or boy cats, she designed them with pink on one side and blue on the other.
The beds were quite welcome as you can see from this photo of just one of the animals to benefit from Kailyn's generous gift of time and love.
Thank you, Kailyn!

Katie the Cat Lover!
Katie Portz will be entering 4th grade at Wynes Elementary this fall and we're sure she'll be an excellent student. Katie has already shown that she can take the initiative to make a difference in her community. Her love of cats and her enthusiasm for all homeless animals led her to organize a lemonade stand this summer to support the Humane Society of Huron Valley.
Katie also donated much needed can cat food when she visited us to bring in the proceeds from her successful lemonade stand.
We raise our cups to Katie! Thank you!
Thank You!
Ian Campbell and Joana Henkin both asked their friends and family to donate dog food to HSHV instead of buying them birthday gifts. Their carload of food was delivered to HSHV on July 15th! We thank them for making the needs of homeless animals a priority on their birthdays.
Thank you, Ian & Joana!

Hurray for Kate!!
We’d like to give a giant THANKS to Kate Moss, who asked her friends to donate to HSHV in lieu of birthday gifts. Kate raised over $200 in contributions! Kate asked for donations because she wanted to help animals at HSHV. She has both a puppy and a cat at home.
Thanks, Kate, for thinking of us on your birthday!
Stephen Brandell - He RULES!
Stephen Brandell made his own birthday invitations and told his friends and family that he preferred they bring an item off of the HSHV "Wish List" instead of gifts for him. That was so generous and caring! Thank you, Stephen!
To see the invitation that Stephen made, click here.
Unfortunately our staff could not find a camera when Stephen came in to drop off his donations. We're hoping his family will see this and send us a picture or call so we can get more information. (734) 662-5585 x125

Gaby Lorey - A Saline Superstar!
We can't thank Gaby enough for deciding to hold a lemonade stand to help the homeless animals in her community. Gaby could have used the money from her successful lemonade stand to buy toys, MP3 music downloads, or a host of other things to have fun with this summer, but she was more concerned for the welfare of the animals at HSHV. Gaby and her family have two cats and understand the unconditional love of a pet.
We raise our lemonade glasses in a toast to Gaby!
Mickie Dobrusin - A True Animal Hero
When Mickie was getting ready for her Bat Mitzvah, she wanted to make sure that donations were made to HSHV and Operation Smile. Mickie loves animals and she doesn't think that people give enough donations to animal shelters. She wanted to help the animals and sent invitations saying that she’d be honored to have donations made to HSHV or Operation Smile for her Bat Mitzvah. Mickie has two cats (Ozzie and Spot) and a dog (Benny, a yellow lab). Benny is an alumni of HSHV! Mickie feels really good about the $2,934 in donations that came into HSHV in honor of her Bat Mitzvah.
Thank you, Mickie!

Rachel Vandermade - Gold Medal Winner
We can't thank Rachel Vandermade, member of Girl Scout Group 2198, enough for donating two hand-crafted benches to the Humane Society of Huron Valley. Rachel took on the project of making these benches herself and will be awarded a Girl Scout Gold Medal on May 13, 2008 for her efforts. One of the benches adorns our shelter lobby and is simply beautiful.
We congratulate, Rachel on her Gold Medal and sincerely thank her!
Mia - A Champion for Pets!

Mia's affection for animals is contagious! Since Mia was very little, she has been an animal lover and concerned citizen for the humane treatment and welfare of all animals. She is particularly fond of dogs, all breeds. Mia is the proud owner of "Otto," a black and tan, miniature Pinscher, and her latest adoption of an Australian Cattle Dog, "Harriett."
Mia longs for the day when she will be old enough to volunteer her time at the shelter. Until then, she contributes what she can by creating her own flyers for her "donation drives," requesting items from the HSHV Wish List.
Mia began with her first collection of donations in the summer of 2006. Since she had such great success with contributions from her family and friends, she decided to have another "donation drive" in September 2007. She was once again, able to deliver a considerable amount of needed items to the shelter.
We estimate her total donated items have equaled well over $400 for the two years, and she's not done.
Thank you, Mia for all you do!
