Camp Paws

Join us for animal-themed fun that will surely leave your tail wagging! Through animal interactions, educational lessons, crafts, games, field trips and visits from local rescue groups, campers will learn how to care for and respect our animal friends.

Because we know that kids love learning about animals year-round, HSHV offers both summer, spring and winter sessions of camp as well as one day programming for school break days. For more information, please read our Frequently Asked Questions.

Scholarship Information: A limited number of scholarships for Camp PAWS summer programs are available for families who are in financial need and would not otherwise be able to attend. To apply for a scholarship for the summer 2018 camp season, please complete our Camp PAWS Scholarship application. All scholarship applications are due by 4pm on Friday, March 2nd, 2018. Applications can be emailed to, faxed to 734-662-0749, mailed or dropped off at HSHV Attn: Humane Education, 3100 Cherry Hill Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48105. Scholarship applicants should not register for camp as spaces for scholarships are separate from general registration.

Waitlist Information: Is your preferred session sold out? Get on the Camp PAWS Waitlist.

Hours: Camp hours are from 9am-4pm. Doors to camp open at 8:50am. To ensure our staff has time to prepare for the fun day of camp, those who arrive prior to that will kindly be asked to wait in the vesitbule area.  Late pickups more than 10 minutes after the camp end time may be charged a $25 late pickup fee.

Cancellation Policy: If a cancellation is made prior to 60 days before your start date of camp , a refund will be given less a $50 administrative fee, per participant. For cancellations less than 60 days from your camp start date, no refunds will be given. This policy also applies to after care registration and refunds will not be issued after the above timeline for those that register for but do not attend after care. Unfortunately, transfers to a different week are not able to be done on our end and require being issued a refund (the above policy applies) and re-registering for another available week.  Please email to request a transfer.

After Care: HSHV offers a limited amount of after care spaces for each camp session. Families do have the option to register their child for after care for an additional $45 fee for week long camps, $15 for one day camps (per child, per session). After care hours are from 4-5pm. Space is limited and registration for after care is available during the general camp registration. All after care fees follow the cancellation policy listed above.

Parent FormsNew this year - Minor waiver and consent forms have now been built into the registration process. This means, once you have read through all of the camp information and completed your registration, you are all set and no additional forms are needed. The only exception to this is if your child needs medication during the camp day. All medications brought to camp need to be accompanied by a completed Medication Release Form, which needs to be signed by a doctor (for prescription medications) and a parent for over the counter medications.

Lunch and Snacks: Campers will need to bring a lunch and drink each day of camp. Unfortunately, refrigerators and microwaves are not available, so please plan accordingly. HSHV will provide a small snack each day of camp and will consist of items such as veggies, pretzels, crackers, etc. Participants are welcome to bring their own snack to meet any dietary or allergy needs and are also encouraged to bring a water bottle each day.

Sessions - To allow campers to attend more than one week of Camp PAWS each summer, we offer a "session 1" and "session 2." Each week of session one will contain similar activities and the same applies for the weeks of session 2. If your camper would like to attend more than one week of Camp PAWS, we ask that they attend one week of each session. Activities are modified and adapted for different age groups.

Age Range Policy: Each of our camps is designed for a specific age range as noted below. Our policy is that each camper's must fall in the specified age range within three months of the camp start date.
