Group Programs

HSHV offers Humane Education programs for children of all ages. Here are some of our great programs for groups and schools:

Shelter Tours

Does your school or organization want a tour of the Humane Society of Huron Valley? Is your group interested in learning more about how to care for animals in our community? We offer educational tours and presentations to area youth and adults that have a natural connection with animals and would like to promote animal compassion and kindness.

For more information about age-appropriate shelter tours, please complete the tour request form. Our humane educator will contact you to schedule your visit. Groups should be limited to no more than 20 children with a 1:5 ratio of adults. Please remember when selecting your date to visit that we are currently scheduling at least 2 weeks out. Tours of HSHV are available Monday through Friday and on Sunday. Tours are not given on Saturdays.

Animal Care Education (A.C.E.) Presentations

Each of these 45-60 minute presentations are available for your group or classroom. They cover a wide variety of animal-related topics. Learn more about the topics available. We also offer in-house presentations at the shelter on other topics.

Party Animal Birthday Parties (ages 5-12):

Are you looking for a PAW-tastic place to celebrate a birthday? Then come and celebrate your special day with the party animals at the Humane Society of Huron Valley! Our "purrfect" birthday parties are available for those who are celebrating their 5th through 12th birthday and include a shelter tour, craft, animal-themed games and an interactive educational presentation with one of our adoptable animals! Parties are available on Saturdays and book up 6-8 weeks in advance, so schedule early! Please contact our Humane Educator for information on how to schedule your party. We can't wait to "paw-ty" with you and your family!

Youth Group Days of Service

Is your youth group or family interested in lending a paw to help the animals at HSHV? Once a month, HSHV holds a Day of Service for adult and youth groups in our community. Held one Saturday per month from 11am-1pm, youth groups will have the opportunity to donate some of their time and assist around the shelter with activities such as maintenance, painting, grounds clean up, making enrichment toys, minor cleaning items, veterinary clinic support and many other opportunities! Our monthly days of service are a great way to get your whole group involved in making a difference in the lives of animals! Pre-registration is required and can be done by phone at (734) 661-3564, or email.
