Junior Volunteers Program

We are offering a 6-session Junior Volunteers Program to help youth engage in and learn about some of the fantastic volunteer opportunities at our shelter! Working alongside our Humane Educator, Volunteer Coordinator and a mentor volunteer, youth in the J.V. program will attend six volunteer training sessions in which they will learn different procedures, policies and safety precautions for working with and caring for animals.

Each session consists of a 45-minute volunteer training program and 75 minutes of onsite volunteer time. Registered youth who attend all six sessions will receive twelve hours of volunteer time, which can be used towards required community service hours. Upon completion of all six sessions, certified Junior Volunteers will have opportunities to volunteer at HSHV!  For more information on our Junior Volunteer program, please read our Frequently Asked Questions
