Groot may be older but he’s still full of life. He runs and leaps when he’s outside. He loves to be by his owners side. He doesn’t like to be hugged but yet he still wants to be on your lap or cuddled next to you. He’s goofy and silly. He sits like a soldier! We say that cause he sits straight up with his head up too and is very still. He will sing to you if you tell him Grooty sing for me and do a howl, he’ll howl back. He will bark three times if you go to give him a treat and tell him to say “I love you”.
Groot would be best with someone that has a yard for him, and no children living with them. Someone who is home a lot, or can take him with them! He’s great in the car, would possibly make a great co-trucker for a truck driver! He does ok with some dogs, but not all. He’s afraid of rain and storms. He is crate trained, but does need anxiety medication in order to not chew and try to escape it. He has separation anxiety. The vet recommended a yard to run and anxiety medication, said that will ease his anxiety issues.
He does not do well with small children, I don’t think he wants to hurt them, he acts like he wants to take them to his den and father them himself. But unfortunately he doesn’t seem to realize that picking them up with his powerful mouth will hurt them.
