For local folks needing to rehome their pet, we offer free listings via Home-to-Home. That way, pets are able to stay in their loving home until a new family is found. These animals are NOT housed at HSHV, but they still need a home!

Home To Home
Their mission is to keep animals out of shelters and instead have them rehomed with loving families.
Home To Home® is an online listing service helping people find new homes (permanent or temporary) for their pets. Owners post profiles then are connected with those interested in adopting.
These animals are NOT housed at HSHV, but they still need loving homes!
Home To Home® does not allow the exchange of any rehoming fees to help animals find their new homes more quickly and avoid scams.
In order to be as inclusive as possible and give access to all who need it, Home To Home® does not require animals be spayed/neutered or current on vaccinations. We recommend that all adopters ask for veterinary records at the time of adoption and to immediately establish care with a veterinarian for any new pet.
- Create Your Account: It's quick and easy! You can manage your pet's profile and status, as well as access helpful resources and a private messaging portal.
- Create a Pet Profile: Share their personality, habits, and quirks. Include clear, adorable photos to highlight your pet’s charm to potential adopters, then submit it for approval.
- Connect with Caring Adopters: Once your pet’s profile is approved, it will appear on our Find A Pet page, where adopters can discover it using filters like zip code, animal type, and more.
- Adopters Reach Out to You: Interested adopters will contact you directly through the secure platform—no need to share personal contact information. Reminder: Check your dashboard Messages frequently to promote a responsive connection and build trust with potential adopters!
- Private and Safe Communication: Chat with adopters, ask important questions, and share details to ensure they’re the right fit.
- Plan a Meet-and-Greet: Schedule introductions at your convenience to help decide if there's a match.
- Finalize the Adoption: When you’ve found the right adopter, initiate the final steps by creating, signing, then sending a digital adoption agreement for signature. The adopter finalizes the process with a digital signature by paying a small Home To Home adoption fee of $25. Reminder: Home To Home does not allow fees to be collected outside the platform by the original pet guardian.
On Home To Home, owners can log in and manage their pet’s profile directly and communicate with potential adopters without sharing personal contact information.
Postings automatically expire after 30 days. You'll have the option to renew for 30 days. After that, you republish your pet for an additional 30 days or mark the outcome (e.g., adopted, surrendered).
All pet submissions must be approved by HSHV to appear on HSHV's site, and by Home To Home® to appear in national searches. This process can take 1-2 business days.
