Hey my name is Daisy Mae! I am a friendly, spunky girl looking for a fun-loving owner willing to offer proper training and exercise. Living at the shelter is a bit stressful and frustrating, so it is hard for me to show my true personality immediately. But volunteers and staff that know me well describe me as playful, sweet, affectionate, and smart. I have meet other dogs before and been curious and appropriate with them, but it would still be best for me to meet potential dog siblings before adoption to make sure we get along. I hope I could be the dog for you, so please come to meet me soon!
Daisy Mae has heartworm which means that this dog has parasitic worms in the right ventricle of the heart and nearby blood vessels. Heartworm is transmitted from one dog to another by mosquitoes and can be easily prevented using monthly heartworm preventative, but once the disease is contracted the treatment process can be quite intensive. Daisy Mae will need to remain sedentary with minimal activity during the treatment process to ensure a healthy recovery. There is additional information on heartworm disease and treatment available at our Adoption Desk. The heartworm injections for treatment are covered by HSHV, but there may be additional costs associated with clinical care.
