We have 2 loving barn cats that need a new home together if possible.
They live on a farm so they are exposed to a lot of different animals. They don’t bother any. They do run from dogs though
George the cat just turned 7. We watched him from birth to now. He was the ruffian of the litter and was always curious about things so we named him George. After he was fixed, he became very calm and easy going. He’s the only one of the litter that stuck around with his mother. When she died, he withdrew into himself after a several months of being alone so we found a little girl kitty to keep him company. He was scared of her (as he is around all cats now) and will run away for days, afraid to come back even to eat. When he thinks they are not around he’ll sneak back. He and ‘Minnie’ now are great friends and are close.
We are really hoping they can stay together and better yet not have any other cats around because George does not like or trust other cats around. It took quite a while to get him to accept Minnie. Now he is a happy cat again. He even started to play after that.
George has always liked dry food better that wet but he loves some wet food too. Purina cat food is his favorite.
Minnie who is 4, was born in a hording situation and never really learned to use a litter box her first year. She was adopted by a family from Novi (and is chipped) but never learned the proper use of litterboxes so after a couple of years trying, they thought she would be better as an outdoor cat. We got her for George. They both are friendly to people. Minnie loves her wet food best and will sit in your lap sometimes. George loves to be brushed, his mat is thick.
The new landlord where the barn/cats live in Dexter, wants to use his buildings for other things and wants everything moved out of there by September 31. We don’t trust him to care for the cats. His view is they must fend for themselves summer and winter, on whatever they can catch, not much in winter. We feed them several times a week, wet and dry and provide water throughout the year. Even have covered heated pet carriers for wintertime.
NO fee to adopt. We very much love and cared for them for years. This is only happening because we lost the barn we had. The new owner does not want to have to care for them thinking they have to catch mice to eat. That may be enough in the warm months but not in the winter. We would love to give you all their special things like their 2 heated pet carriers (just 4 watts each), and a heated water bowl. About 6 months ago we bought a timed dispenser of dry food that is fully adjustable and works great in case you’re not home that day lets them eat a little bit during the day, also very low power. Even the racoons haven’t been able to figure it out. See the item here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BK8XVHFS/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
