Court-ordered community service

Community service hours? We can help and you can help the animals!

For those interested in completing court-ordered community service, you must be 18 years or older and serving hours for a non-violent misdemeanor offense such as DUI/OWI. Unfortunately, individuals with a history of felonies, retail fraud, theft, larceny, animal neglect/abuse and/or violent crimes will not be permitted to join the volunteer program at HSHV. At this time, we are unable to accept court-ordered volunteers under the age of 18; you must be 18 years or older at the time of application to be considered.

Step 01

Complete the application

  • Click the button above to go to the application form, submit, and we will reach out to you soon!

Step 02

Attend a orientation session

  • Orientation dates are listed on the application. We’ll confirm your application and call to introduce ourselves.
  • Attend your scheduled, hands-on orientation session in comfortable indoor work clothes.
  • A one-time, non-waivable $80 program fee is due at orientation ($30 tax-deductible).

Step 03

Provide documentation to our volunteer manager

  • Your probation officer’s contact information on official letterhead must be submitted by New Volunteer Orientation or before your first shift. Without it, HSHV cannot provide a completion letter.
