Toffee has the chill, mature well behaved personality of an older dog with the goofy playfulness of a young dog, aka the best of both worlds! I’ve had her since she was 3 months and she was always well taken care of thus her energetic personality yet composed behavior as a senior, people are always shocked when I say her age. She does well on walks, hikes, car rides, runs, fetch, the beach, being let off leash in safe areas, bathes, ear and teeth cleaning, nail trimming, etc. She is amazing with humans and LOVES children. She’s always been around small children so she knows how to be gentle with them when playing or moving around them. She loves her humans but doesn’t smother them and gives them space, although she has some separation anxiety after my grandpa died and family members moved out. (Training can significantly reduce or get rid of this).

She’s fully trained and knows all of her commands and can be let off leash in enclosed spaces so long as you watch out for other dogs. She’s currently in a home that started off with a lot of people until all of my nieces and nephews who were taking care of her moved out. She prefers quieter areas, but with some reassurance she can get use to noisy, city type settings. Fireworks or other loud sounds scare her. She tolerates cats as they tend to bully her but with a good introduction and friendliness from a feline they could get along. She lived with a cat her first few years. She used to be okay with dogs but has reactive dog aggression after being viciously attacked by a stray that landed her in emergency surgery, so she needs to be an only dog. But she can be rehabbed through training to be able to be with other dogs again- i’d be willing to help cover that cost as well.

Toffee would be a perfect addition to a family or a home that has several people or frequent visitors, as she’s very people friendly but not as hyper as a puppy. Since she’s so well behaved she poses no issue with common dog challenges, such as grooming or annoying guests. She’s all the love and play of a dog without all the demands that come with getting a puppy, because she already went through all of that and “gets it” now. She’s in Holland living with my sister and I live in Detroit, but I’m willing to drive anywhere in Michigan to meet her potential new owner and home. If within reasonable driving distance in neighboring states, I’d be willing to do that as well. I’m an open book and will be honest with any questions, concerns, and curiosities you may have regarding my girl so please contact me with them. I just know I can find her a good home that will continue the love she’s already getting but with the added attention and time she deserves. This breaks my heart beyond words, please be nice.
