Mae is a 9 month old Blue Fawn Merle great dane with strikingly beautiful eyes. We have her official AKC paperwork if her new owner would wants to register her.
She currently lives in a home in Ann Arbor with another dog, George, a 14 year old child and two adults. We work from home and are almost always with her unless we leave the house for something in which case she is crate trained. She also sleeps in her crate at night, which she does really well with. Mae would do best for a single person or a couple who is seeking a very loyal companion. Someone with Great Dane experience would be preferred as the breed has specific needs. Mae currently gets a long walk daily. She is also currently in puppy classes and knows a lot of tricks such as, sit, down, stay, leave it, come, kiss, paw, touch etc. Mae likes to work and needs the mental stimulation. She does have anxiety and would benefit from anxiety management such as medication and/or a calm steady home without chaos. She should also have ongoing training as big dogs needs to have good manners and it is up to owners to help teach them this in a positive way. Our home is quite tranquil and she does well with it. Being in a chaotic home would not be a good fit. Mae can be stubborn and needs an owner who will not only love her and care for her but take the time to keep up with her walks and training needs. Example: when going outside together the owner should always go first to develop leadership. Mae has never destroyed something that wasn’t a toy of hers, but she will tear up her babies (stuffed toys.) She is very strong and needs an owner who is physically capable of walking her. She has a no pull harness and is improving on her leash skills but if a squirrel crosses her path .. you will need to be strong enough to hold her amongst her excitement.

Mae loves: balls, playing soccer, ice cubes, long walks, training time, spending time with her people (primarily me)
Mae dislikes: nail trims, riding in small cars/spaces, food that isn’t fish based (she is allergic to chicken and beef- this is common for pure bread Danes)

Mae was going to be a therapy dog and I have invested a great deal into her care and training. I am devastated to re-home her but it simply isn’t fair to George, my spouse and frankly Mae to live in a home in which she can’t just be herself without the concerning size difference in dogs during play. Mae is an exceptionally beautiful and loyal dog. Serious inquires only please.
