Neville is an 8-year-old, 45 lb. purebred Mini Australian Shepherd. He is a friendly, affectionate, and active dog who loves to be around people of all ages. Neville is happy to cuddle up on the couch or go on adventures!
Like many Australian Shepherds, Neville is a smarty pants who loves activity and attention. Although he is happy spending the day at home, he is also a great adventure partner. At home, Neville will quietly follow you from room to room to show his love and maybe get a friendly pat on the head. He loves to go on walks and hikes, and he is a great camper. Neville also loves to go paddle boarding on the lake or lay in a hammock with his human.
Neville is friendly and comfortable around adults of all genders. He has not spent a lot of time around children, but all of his experiences with children have been positive.
Neville is a great walker on a leash and harness. He sometimes barks at other dogs while on a leash, but he can be distracted with treats. Neville is very food motivated, and he is willing to work or learn new things for a reward.
Neville will thrive in a home in which he is the only pet. While he gets along well with other dogs in dog parks and when boarding, he can be defensive in his home territory. Treats should be used to distract him away from bones or toys that need to be taken away from him. Neville can also be a bit of an attention seeker when new people visit the home. He is easily distracted with treats if visitors are not as enthusiastic as he is.
Neville is in excellent physical health: neutered, microchipped, fully potty trained, up to date on his vaccines, and on monthly flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. He can be left alone to roam the house without chewing or other destructive behavior, and he is not a fan of crates. A fenced yard would be nice but not essential. He also does well with a few walks a day for exercise. Neville takes Reconcile (doggy Prozac) to help with his Aussie energy and resource guarding.
Neville is looking for a human companion(s) who will love him as much as he will undoubtedly love them. He is a classic Aussie who will do well in an active home.
