Scout programs
Held at our main animal shelter, this 90-minute scout program includes a shelter tour, an enrichment making activity and dog meet-and-greet—ideal for scout troops! All scouts will receive an exclusive HSHV patch.
Field trips
For K-8, field trips to HSHV are 2 hours of hands-on animal fun led by our humane ed staff and volunteers including a tour, a lesson in humane education, pet toy making, and an animal safety demo. Meets many Common Core Standards, too!
Animal Care Education (ACE)
Sit, stay – we’ll come to you! Animal Care Education programs taught by HSHV’s humane educators are available to all age groups within Washtenaw County, Canton, Plymouth and Northville. Enjoy topics in animal welfare, safety, and care.
Shelter tours
If your group of 6 or more wants to visit our shelter, and you’re interested in learning more about the Humane Society of Huron Valley, we offer educational tours to local youth and adults who, like us, adore animals!
Student + class projects
For students needing help with projects, or teachers who’d like some fun humane education curriculum, head here. And check out our popular “Persuasive Profile” writing project that has kids writing creative descriptions for the adoptable animals!
