Griffin is a sweet, gentle, loving big dog. The first time we met him, he came right up to my daughter and I and stole our hearts with his friendly nature. The ONLY reason we have to rehome him after a month in our house is his size! He’s 85 lbs and strong and my 8 year old is just too small to be able to play with him easily and she definitely can’t walk him.
Griffin came to us as a stray. He’s estimated to be about 2 years old and a lab-husky mix. He needs an experienced dog owner who knows how to manage big dogs. Everyone who’s come into contact with him from the vet to the dog trainer has said he’s such a sweet-natured dog and will make a perfect companion for someone who knows what they’re doing and can put the time in to training him:
– he’s fully potty trained
– hardly ever barks or jumps
-eager to learn
– friendly with other people
– fine with kids, but he’s just too big for kids under maybe 13
– doesn’t chew or destroy
– doesn’t snatch food
– pretty happy-go-lucky
He loves walks, but needs a strong hand to leash-train him and be able to handle him when he gets excited about a squirrel or bird! Currently I take him 3 or 4 times a day for short walks, but he’s also been just fine at home alone for 4-5 hours. He’ll just nap and stretch and enjoy a patch of sun. He’ll sit on the couch with us while we’re watching tv or at my feet while I’m working.
He’d be great with a fenced yard, probably a somewhat larger house, with a busy family with older kids or a young couple who work partially from home.
We are HEART-BROKEN to have to rehome him, but I know he’ll be a great forever dog for the right home!
