Simone is a loving, but anxious tripod (3-legged) chihuahua/terrier mix. She is about 9 years old and 25 lbs and is looking for a loving home without children or other pets so she can be as relaxed as possible.

Simone is extremely affectionate with “her person,” and loves to cuddle on the couch, run in the snow, and play with her toys (adorably, she is only interested in stuffed Lamb Chop toys – don’t worry, we have a whole supply for you). Her mobility has been largely unaffected by only having three legs – she runs and jumps and there’s still plenty of pep in her step.

She had a lot of trauma, including being attacked by another dog, leading to her amputation. We’re told she “trauma bonds,” which means she loves her person intensely, but is often fearful of others. She has nipped guests who got close and has shown aggression toward our toddler, which is why we stress she should be in a home without children.

We love Simone and want to help in any way we can. She has worked successfully with a trainer and behaviorist who know she can succeed in the right home – and we’d be happy to help defray some of the costs to keep those relationships intact (if you’re in the Ypsi/Van Buren area).

She is housebroken and crate trained – in fact, she loves to hang out in her crate when guests come over. She is spayed, vaccinated, de-wormed, heart worm negative, on flea and heart worm preventative, and micro-chipped.
