We currently have 2 case dogs waiting for foster placement. They are here because HSHV is the holding facility for animals going through court trials. They cannot be adopted. We are not able to spay or neuter them. They would all be much more comfortable in a home since cases can take a long time to resolve. Only the first letter of their name will be provided for privacy.
First is R:
Age: 5 Sex: Male Breed: Pit Mix Weight: 57 Pounds Restrictions: Must Meet Dogs.
R is a friendly and wiggly guy, but he is very frustrated in his kennel and barks at anyone who passes by because he wants out and to be with people! He did live with another dog previously, but has been reactive to dogs here (seems to be frustration based), so would need to meet any dog siblings prior to going to foster. He does not have any history with cats. He may be in our care for an extended period, so we would like to get him into a home environment where he can be less stressed.
Second is A:
Age: 1 Sex: Male Breed: Pit Mix Weight: 71 Pounds Restrictions: Must Meet Dogs. Must Meet Kids.
A is a young energetic guy who is waiting at the shelter pending case, which means he has no set end date to his stay. We would like him to get out to a foster home so he doesn’t have to spend that whole time in the shelter. Unfortunately, case dogs often do not come with much home history, so we do not know how he is with other dogs, cats or kids. He would need to meet any dogs/kids before going home and be able to be separate from cats.
How to Foster a Case Dog:
New fosters can take the first step by learning about fostering and signing up to become a new foster. Veteran foster parents can email fosters@hshv.org to schedule a pickup appointment.
