Skye and Victoria made a generous donation to the Humane Society as part of a school project that Skye did to help out her community. Skye worked hard doing activities like dog walking and yard work to raise money, and then came to our shelter to give the proceeds to homeless animals in need. Thank you Skye and Victoria for choosing HSHV for your project, the animals are so grateful!

Paige is Pawsome!
Paige came in to donate to HSHV and gave the animals here a bounty of cat and dog food and lots of yummy treats. Paige was able to make this generous donation because she asked for items to donate for her birthday party instead of presents! Paige made this awesome contribution because she loves animals and wanted to help the homeless cats and dogs during their stay here. Thank you so much Paige!

Cutest little Kitty
It had been 4 years since our family last had a kitty. For my 40th birthday present, I was given the best gift of all: the chance to visit the Humane Society of Huron Valley to hopefully adopt a kitten. Talia (formerly Wilma) was the first and only kitten I held. Her markings are so striking that I fell in love instantly. She settled into my arms as I held her, and I just had to look into her eyes and knew she was coming home with me. Even though I just adopted her on Saturday (5/24/19), I just knew

Mary recovers and fits right in!
When we first adopted Mary Jane, she had almost no fur and a host of health problems. She didn’t let that stop her from making friends with our other Shih Tzu, Grizzly, and being incredibly sweet. With a lot of hard work (and a lotttt of medication), her fur has almost completely grown back and her other medical conditions are gone or controlled. She continues to be the sweetest girl. She was the perfect addition to our little family. We love her and are so happy to have HSHV in our community.

Found our new family member!!
We knew that our family wanted another dog, but we weren’t sure what kind exactly. My son and I decided to go to the shelter one afternoon, and as it turns out, an adoption event was taking place that day. We walked by several adorable puppies, but then we saw Vayda! She whined when we left her cage (more than once) something we hadn’t seen her do with anyone else. We knew she was the new family dog we were looking for. She couldn’t be any sweeter or more playful; she fits into our family perfectly! We just love her

We couldn’t be happier!
We adopted two barn cats, not knowing how they would fit into our little pack, and they have become the barn ambassadors! They greet us every morning with love and lots of ‘stories’ about the previous night’s hunt! And they have to be near us, whatever we’re doing. The best part is how they love each other; we see them leave together each evening on their nightly rounds. We love these cats so much, and highly recommend HSHV for your barn cat needs. Owen and Cusack, now Patrick and Lucky

A Helping Hand From Girls on the Run
The Girls on the Run team at Ypsilanti International Elementary School had to choose a community project at the end of their season, and organize all of their own efforts to make it possible. They chose to help out the Humane Society of Huron Valley, and we are so grateful! These girls both reached out to their school community to ask for donations from our wish list, and also made dog and cat toys themselves. In the end, they were able to donate their braided dog toys and feathered cork cat toys, along with a ton of items from local
