Marley is a sensitive girl who needs some time to open up and show her true personality. She will have a much easier time with that in foster than here at the shelter!

Marley isn’t the most touchy-feely girl, preferring to show her love to staff and volunteers with full-body wiggles and doggy smiles. Marley is a friendly girl, but can be avoidant of close handling (leashing) from strangers here at the shelter. Marley recently went on a PJ party with a prospective adopter. They reported that she was a pro at potty training- waiting at the door to let them know she had to go- and liked spending time in her crate. While Marley doesn’t outwardly dislike dogs, cohabitating with one during the PJ party was a bit too much for our sweet, sensitive girl. Even when around other dogs, this introverted girl prefers to keep to herself.  As a result, the adopters decided she wasn’t a fit, but said they thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her. Marley is also a very quick study, getting glowing reviews from our volunteer trainers here at HSHV. She is also a volunteer favorite to take offsite for short shelter breaks, as she is easy to drive around in the car and remains calm and polite in public.

Marley did go out to foster but was returned because she was not great with being left alone. She was destructive when left outside of the crate and destroyed her crate when left inside. They may have been other factors at play but she may be best with someone who is home more often.

Due to Marley’s handling sensitivities and initial shy demeanor, she needs a home without kids under 12.

  • I prefer kids over 12
  • I need to be the only pet
