We adopted Aphrodite in early April, and she has been an absolute delight… while also being the most consternating animal I’ve ever met! I wouldn’t change a thing about her! She moves at her own pace and does things her own way, but she’s also incredibly sweet and loyal. It took about three months for her sense of humor and personality to really start coming out, but now we see her. Aphrodite isn’t our first large dog, but she is our first mastiff, and while I’ve walked plenty of dogs her size or heavier, she is the only one who has ever pulled me off my feet. It all worked out just fine after we got a tactical no-pull harness!
She lives with two other large dogs and three cats, and other than a little possessiveness toward her toys in the beginning, she has melded right into the family. She is particularly fond of the many small children in our extended family, and has appointed herself as nanny whenever she’s with them, never letting them out of her sight. She is also never without her “nubby” ball, and a big thank you to her previous owner for the very detailed information that they gave HSHV about Aphrodite. We would have been lost without that rundown.
Aphrodite has the best life we can give her, with lots of toys, a place of honor at the foot of the bed, and a deeply devoted companion in our giant schnauzer, who absolutely worships her. It must have been difficult to rehome her, and I’m grateful to her previous owner for making that hard choice. Please know that she is beloved and living her best life.
