My wife and I lost our wonderful red heeler, Rose, last year. She was a rescue from AuCaDo up north and when we made the decision to get another pup we knew we wanted to adopt again. We met several dogs through HSHV but it was so difficult to make a decision. One of my wife’s coworkers suggested making a list of the top traits that we considered important and the next time we went in to walk a few dogs one of the wonderful HSHV workers recommended that we meet Lily, who was Jolie at the time. She was

Two Stray Soulmates
My partner, Brad, and I started looking for a second dog when we noticed our first dog, Fauci, was lonely. At first, it was hard to pinpoint that he was yearning for another furry friend. Fauci can sometimes be reactive around other dogs, but the only time he would really perk up and act himself was on visits with my sister’s dogs. So we decided we’d set out to find a new member of the family. Fast forward to seeing Nuri’s description on HSHV. She was described as sweet, but very shy, and she “required” another furry sibling in the

He is a very happy puppy with us. He’s a little spoiled. Lol. And great with the grandkids. Brandyfoot now Branz

Chai’s First Month in her home
Chai came to us last month sorta unexpectedly but we couldn’t imagine a better fit. She was so tiny and skittish when I met her at her foster’s but in just a few short days she got comfortable with her new brothers (our two other cats and a dog!). We were so worried about the little tripod kitty coming home with us but she has been small but mighty. She enjoys her days now as my shadow and chasing her new kitty brother around the house! She’s sweet and sassy but such a perfect fit! Chai

Nova finds her forever home and gets the best big little sister!
My girlfriend and I came in just browsing after randomly finding the website and looking at all the puppies and dogs. We originally came to look at Bella a female cane corso mix, but the humane society accident had her tag and her brothers swapped right next to her. Once we noticed and got it switched and we’re looking at the right dog, we just knew we had to take her home. She was 5 ish months old at the time and just recently spayed so she was quite energetic but sore it seemed. Turns out though funny enough we

The most perfect little cat in the world
We found and adopted our first cat, Percy, in 2019, and we quickly realized that Percy was lonely and in need of a friend. We found Pablo, now Caduceus, in one of the communal rooms, where many cats (often those who don’t know each other before sharing the room) live together. This ended up being a great indicator of Caduceus’ personality and socialization. Although Percy was apprehensive at first, we introduced them over a few weeks and now they are truly the best of friends. Caduceus is incredibly affectionate, chatty, adaptable, and charming. We are so lucky to have our

Diesel makes our house a home
Me and my Fiancé came to the shelter not expecting to leave with a dog. The second we saw Diesel we were in love. He is extremely smart and I swear he knows what I’m saying. With plans to move to a farm unexpectedly changing, Diesel came with us on a move to Ruskin, FL. We are now moved into a home with a large yard and plans to build a fence within the year. Diesel is as sweet and sassy as the day we met him! A true part of our home. Silver now Diesel

LT.Dan got a new home with me
It was covid. I was so lonely and needed to make a new friend. I decided to take my Mom to Tiny Lions to just hangout. I never planned to meet a new friend that day. A little guy sat on my Mom’s lap and she said, “He is the one!” I read his collar and his name was LT.Dan and I held him and knew he was going to be my best friend in the whole world. I brought him home a few short weeks later, and we became best buds. I decided while I worked he couldn’t be

Our Sweet Mila!
Three years ago, our daughter adopted Mila from your facility. As Mila just turned 7, we wanted to provide an update of her life. Simply put, she is a delightful companion, and we love her dearly. She is sweet, fun, and smart, and we couldn’t imagine life without her. She goes on long walks, enjoys playing fetch and tug-of-war, and barks at invisible intruders in the yard. She is living her best life. Thank you for all you do for animals who need you! Mila
