Holmes has been quite fearful and shut down at the shelter. He will need a foster who can pay attention to his body language and listen to him when he is feeling uncomfortable. He came in after being live trapped, though shows some indication of having lived with a person before (wearing a collar, knows the cue “sit.”) He was not been comfortable with people touching him and will move away or turn to avoid it, but will seek proximity to people and lay near to you. He came in with very poor skin condition and is still receiving treatment for his skin and is on a limited diet as part of that treatment. He loves cheese and is allowed to have it with his limited diet! The behavior team is looking to see if he becomes more comfortable and social with a person in a home, and is looking for someone to continue working with him on gaining confidence. He will be most successful in a quiet, calm, low traffic home without children. He came in with another dog and may be able to go to foster with another dog with an intro at the shelter. He has not history with cats but has not shown significant prey drive here and may be successful with a slow introduction.
