Lady does not enjoy shelter life and has been refusing to return to her kennel. She has spent time in the behavior office and has been able to relax much better there. She likes to play with stuffed toys and squeaky toys and will bring them to you and set them in your lap for “fetch.” She also enjoys attention once she is comfortable with you.
In her previous home she was allowed outside off leash and would run off property to fence fight with neighbor dogs a few houses down. We think this behavior is likely to be manageable if proper management is put in place and she is given other outlets to keep her from being bored. She will need someone who can responsibly contain her with a fence, tie out, or leash as well as supervision when outside. She was in a foster for about a week and did okay around a cat. She has shown some nervousness around all the new people here and would likely do best with older, dog savvy children. She would prefer to be the only dog in the home.
