Lovage is a nervous girlie who does seek attention and cuddles with people once she is comfortable with them. She’s made huge strides of progress in the shelter but needs a final push to get her really comfortable – and that happens in a quiet home! Lovage has interacted with a few different dogs here and seems to gain confidence from having a dog buddy! Lovage is FINALLY going on walks outside of the building – initially with the assistance of a doggy helper, but now she’s brave enough to venture out with a safe human (if there aren’t too many strangers around) and walk outside! She needs someone who is patient and calm as she explores things beyond her room. When she’s overwhelmed, she quickly retreats back into her “safe zone” and decompresses to try again when she’s ready. Due to her discomfort with leashes, she will need a foster home with a secure fenced yard, so fosters can work on slow desensitization to the leash. She will need a home without young kids due to her nervousness.
How to Foster Lovage:
New fosters can take the first step by learning about fostering and signing up to become a new foster. Veteran foster parents can email fosters@hshv.org to schedule a pickup appointment.
