Age: 4  Sex: Male   Breed: Shepherd  Weight: 56 Pounds

Marvin is a dog who came in as a stray who and has shown high levels of separation anxiety here at the shelter. He becomes extremely unsettled and will bark and whine excessively if left alone and has started to refuse to return to his kennel. He is currently being housed in the Relaxation Room overnight and spends time during the day in the behavior office. When people are in the room with him he is a relatively calm and easy dog, satisfied with a few potty breaks and some chews for enrichment. He spends most of his day sleeping on the floor and will occasionally approach staff for attention. He would do well with a foster who works from home or rarely leaves the house, with experience with dogs with separation anxiety or who is willing to work with the behavior team through virtual consultations to learn some new skills. As he is a stray he does not have history with cats or kids. He has been nervous of kids he has seen in passing at the shelter and would likely prefer children over the age of 12. He has met dogs here at the shelter and was able to greet other dogs appropriately but was not interested in play, so he would likely do best with an older, neutral dog who isn’t overly rambunctious.
