Maven has been particularly stressed by living in a kennel and seems to have some level of confinement anxiety. That in combination with her fear of other dogs has made her stay at the shelter extra uncomfortable. We are hoping to get her to a home environment where she can have her level of confinement reduced and have someone who can work with her one on one building skills to help her remain neutral around other dogs. She does not typically react to dogs on walks, but has barked at them in her kennel and may pull towards them when she sees them on leash. She would benefit from a foster who is familiar with teaching reactivity skills or willing to work with the behavior department on learning these skills. She seems to be highly social with people and loved cuddles and playing with squeaky toys. She will need a foster without other dogs and would likely do best with older kids who don’t mind her moments of excitable, jumpy behavior. If she goes to a home with a cat she will need a slow introduction and initial separation.

How to Foster Maven:

New fosters can take the first step by learning about fostering and signing up to become a new foster. Veteran foster parents can email fosters@hshv.org to schedule a pickup appointment.
