We adopted Belle (formerly Suzie) about 8 years ago, and she is a fabulous!! We adopted her as a companion for our other dog, Trixie, who sadly passed this September. They were the same age and same breed: Doberman. Belle didn’t really have any boundaries when we first met her; she frequently jumped on the kitchen table, she destroyed not 1, not 2, but 3 couches, uprooted two trees (although, she was not alone in this escapade; she had help from Trixie), pulled curtains from the window and shredded them, and I can’t even count the number of socks she chewed holes in. It’s hard to be mad at her because she always looks so proud of her accomplishments and always has a smile on her face.

After lots of training classes and tons of positive reinforcement, she settled down a bit in her destructive behavior and into the family routine. She and Trixie became inseparable and great travel companions on our many camping trips. Belle is slowing down a bit in her older age, and she now has Zoey as her companion.

We adopted Zoey (formerly Pimento) this May from HSHV, and she is an 8 year old Doberman. She was treated for heartworm and is doing well, and she has adjusted beautifully to our home. Her name should be Velcro because she is glued to your side and never tires of attention. She and Belle are good companions; they run together in our yard, bark at the same squirrels, and are frequently curled on the couch together. We discovered that Zoey is a great travel companion as well and enjoys hiking and bike riding.

Moose was adopted from HSHV in September, a 2 year old Doberman. What a spirit he has!! He has so much energy and always has a goofy grin on his face. He loves to play with Belle and Zoey, but they tire more quickly than he does. We discovered he loves to play fetch with a tennis ball and really really enjoys catching a Frisbee. But his absolute favorite game to play is “chase the red laser dot.” Wow, does he love that game!!! He loves to snuggle with people and other dogs. He can frequently been seen running in the back yard, not after anything, just running the perimeter for fun and he is a graceful runner. He loves bike riding and it is easier to bike ride with him than walk; his slow walk is a jog for me!

Our home is full of happiness with these 3 dogs, they make us smile and laugh a lot!
