My partner and I had discussed adopting a second cat for several months, but hesitated because we weren’t sure how our first cat would react. One Sunday we stopped at the shelter “just to look” and fell in love with Venus (now Freya), who was newly 3-legged, missing parts of her ears and nearly half of her tail. She was also incredibly friendly, easy-going, and began purring the moment her cage was opened. There was no way we could go home without her!

Freya loves watching birds from the window, crinkle toys, snuggling at night, and playing with her new big brother. The cats adore each other, and Freya’s confidence has definitely rubbed off on our shyer cat. She’s adjusted beautifully to having 3 legs. We couldn’t have asked for a better addition to our family! Thank you to the HSHV team for taking such wonderful care of our girl during her time at the shelter!
