After unexpectedly losing our first dog Halloween of 2024, we made it all of 3 days before we knew we needed another baby to love. After a few weeks of searching, we found sweet Zoey, who was being fostered by the incredible Gretchen after being brought into HSHV right before giving birth to her NINE babies.
Poor mama was so scared of everything when we brought her home, but over time she really began to open up and show us her personality (which turned out to be way more sassy than shy) and show off exactly how smart she is.
While she is still slow to warm up to people, she gave us every sign that she wanted a sibling. With the thumbs up from our wonderful vet and the help of the HSHV adoptions team, we started the hunt for the perfect sibling for our ZoZo!
After weeks of looking, we saw Suvi’s (Lucy’s) profile on the HSHV website while driving home from South Carolina and we just had a feeling that she was our girl. As soon as we got into town we drove straight to HSHV before even going home.
It was love at first (very silly) bark with this silly and snuggly little trouble maker, and after a successful pet intro, Suvi came home on June 1. We worked closely with HSHV and the vet to introduce them slowly and carefully, but these two were so in love from day 2.
Only six weeks apart in age, we joke that they are long lost litter mates just waiting to be sisters. Zoey is teaching Suvi to be a better listener and that the car is safe and Suvi is teaching Zoey to be brave and how to have fun and be silly. More than anything, they are teaching us how amazing it is to be a family of four. So grateful to HSHV for helping complete our furry little family!
