Yui Would Love a Foster

Age: 5  Sex: Female   Breed: Pit Mix  Weight: 74 Pounds Yui is a wiggly and friendly girl when meeting people outside, but she struggles with barrier reactivity when she is stuck inside her kennel. She will need a foster home without cats, and would likely be happiest as the only dog as well. We do not have any history on her with kids, so she would need to meet the entire family before going to foster. She likes to take her time and sniff her way through her walks. Foster Yui and let her wiggle her way into your home!   How to Foster

Arlo Wants a Foster

Age: 1  Sex: Male   Breed: Pit Mix  Weight: 60 Pounds Arlo is a smart, energetic boy who has been in our care for a while now. He struggles with the confinement from his kennel, but relaxes and settles into his walk when taken out of the kennel. Though he has a history of escape, his surrender profile indicates that he previously did well within a fenced yard. Fosters should monitor Arlo while outside and may benefit from keeping a long line attached while outside. His surrender profile also states that Arlo has good history with both toddlers and cats, but would still benefit from slow

Bunny & Pup

A couple months ago we adopted a 3-year-old bunny from HSHV. We first chose her because she looked so incredibly cute, but we also relied on the intake information from the previous owner where we found out that she came from a household that had other pets. As a result, we were fortunate that Coco Puff did not mind our 13 year old pup, Micah. Micah has also spent his entire life with a free ranging parakeet (13 years) and a guinea pig (7 years) so Micah did not mind Coco Puff. Rabbits are as intelligent as the description states,

Ponies, Goats, Dogs, Turtles, and More—120+ Animals Get a Second Chance

She came to buy a horse, but left with concern. The horse wasn’t healthy and happy– but instead was suffering from severe neglect. Would she turn a blind eye and hope for the best? No. She contacted HSHV cruelty investigators. When the rescue began, what we found was grim: over 100 neglected animals in poor health, cramped or unsanitary conditions, inadequate food or veterinary care. We immediately got them water and they literally stepped over each other to get it. The scene broke hearts. But alongside that heartbreak was action — swift, determined, resolute. Our rescue officers moved in. Animal

Pelican Is Seeking Foster

Age: 3  Sex: Male   Breed: Pit Mix  Weight: 78 Pounds Pelican is a big, strong guy who has been at the shelter since July. We would love to get him out into a foster home to get a break from the shelter or until he is adopted! He has responded well to basic training here, and would likely be more responsive to continuing training in a calmer environment. He does need to meet dog siblings to make sure they are a good match, as he can be a bit oblivious as to whether other dogs want to interact with him. He has been able to
