Ypsilanti, MI (December 31, 2025) — The Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) is investigating a complaint involving the alleged abuse of a dog whose footage was captured on a doorbell camera in Ypsilanti. The video, reportedly taken late last week on Ypsilanti’s South Street, appears to show a man running onto a porch, grabbing what appears to be a pit-bull mix with light-colored fur, striking the dog several times, then lifting and dragging the dog by the neck while walking down the steps off the porch. In the footage, the dog’s legs appear to be lifted off the ground as

A forever home for Lando
When my best fur friend of 12 years, Dakota, (HSHV alumni) crossed the rainbow bridge in early November 2024…my heart shattered. As a volunteer dog walker at HSHV, I found myself spending more and more time at the shelter with the dogs. In April 2025 a handsome, senior dog named Lando came to the shelter. Right away I felt a connection to him. I walked him daily at the shelter, then I took him home for shelter breaks, finally realizing he’s the one, and I adopted Lando on May 8, 2025. We celebrated Lando’s 12th Birthday in August. We spent

Mister Moo Cow Finds a Home
After years of debating about whether I wanted a cat, my partner and I walked in to HSHV on the morning of August 23rd, 2024 hoping to look at an older, calmer cat who we knew had a past positive history with dogs so they’d have the best chance at getting along with my first fur kiddo, a then newly five year old dog. We walked into the first kitten room saying we’d just be there for a second, and left with little Pasu (then Griffin) clinging to me. In the nearly year and a half since he’s been home,
