Ann Arbor, MI (October 23, 2018) – Sports fans and animal lovers alike will get their chance to roast New York Times bestselling author John U. Bacon at the Humane Society of Huron Valley’s (HSHV’s) 13^th annual Compassionate Feast fundraiser on Friday, November 9.

In addition to being a bestselling author, John Bacon is a popular public speaker, award-winning radio commentator, and a beloved teacher at the University of Michigan, where students awarded him the 2009 Golden Apple. The evening’s roasters, a cast of characters from throughout Bacon’s life, will entertain with hilarious, first-hand accounts of his many accomplishments, and will be emceed by local University of Michigan fan favorites and WTKA Sports Talk 1050 hosts Sam Webb and Ira Weintraub.

“They jumped at the chance,” says John U. Bacon of Webb, Weintraub and folks who wanted to roast him. “And so did I. As a lifelong resident of Ann Arbor, whose school bus passed the Humane Society every day, I’ve always been a great admirer of the important work the people at HSHV do, and how they do it—including giving us our second dog, Ashley. We’re thrilled to support HSHV’s mission.”

The event will take place at the University of Michigan League, and along with the roast, will also feature cocktails, a silent auction, and a multiple course gourmet vegetarian/vegan feast. 100% of the proceeds go to HSHV, the only animal shelter in Washtenaw County that takes in all types of unwanted, injured, lost and abused animals.
