Devon is a big, friendly guy who would benefit from getting out of the shelter. He does display some arousal behavior (leash biting) when walking on a leash here. Devon really enjoys our play yards here at the shelter and he would do best in a home with a fenced yard, so that fosters can work on his leash walking skills gradually, instead of requiring him to be on a leash anytime he is outside. He has also shown some discomfort with invasive handling but enjoys calm petting and attention once he knows someone. Due to his arousal behavior, handling sensitivity, and large size, he would do best in a home without young kids. He would need to meet any dog siblings, although has been non-reactive and seemingly dog-social in our car. We do not have any history on him with cats, so fosters would need the ability to separate and follow slow introductions.
How to Foster Devon:
New fosters can take the first step by learning about fostering and signing up to become a new foster. Veteran foster parents can email fosters@hshv.org to schedule a pickup appointment.
