Dill is a nervous dog who needs a patient adopter who can give him the opportunity to decompress while he transitions into a new situation. He is easily overwhelmed by new people or too much touch, and sometimes displays this stress through redirectory humping. We have not seen this behavior in shelter but it did occur on a short pajama party (24hrs). We are hopeful that this behavior may dissipate if given adequate time to decompress in a new environment. He has been most comfortable in the play yards at the shelter and would likely benefit from a home with a yard or access to an outdoor area where he can relax. Due to his nervousness and sensitivities around handling we think that he would be most successful in a home without young children. He did come in with another dog and may do well in a home with another dog with an appropriate intro at the shelter. He does not have any history with cats and will need a slow and controlled introduction.
