With the current long summer days, many of our dogs may be enjoying more time outside in the yard with us.  However, you may find that your dogs has begun to do some undesirable things while out there such as digging up the flower beds, barking at squirrels, running the property line, or even trying to escape.

Rather than trying to stop all these behaviors after they start, why not give your dog something more fun, and more appropriate, to do while outside?  Sand boxes to dig in, outdoor toys, hidden treats and chew items, and dog-safe plants for them to sniff and munch on are all great forms of enrichment you can provide in the yard.  By being proactive, you can often prevent problematic behavior, and find new, creative ways to spend time outside with your dog.
