Feta (also known as Feta Wap, Feta Cheese, Cheese Man, Mr. Cheese, Cheesers) was found as a stray and was very nervous when he first started out at the shelter. While he still could use some confidence boosting, he has adapted and bonded with staff and volunteers here and made a lot of progress since September. Despite this progress, Feta can’t stand his kennel and refuses to return frequently, often seen on the outside kennel soaking in the afternoon views or being coaxed inside by a crowd of staff (it’s basically his own fan club at this point.) He enjoys playing with tug toys and chewing on long-lasting chews like bully sticks. This kid would benefit from a consistent schedule and opportunity for exercise and may not be the best fit for smaller living spaces. Feta shows some discomfort/overarousal when interacting with other dogs and can be too much for an older or less tolerant/playful dog, and would likely do best as an only dog. Exceptions and introductions can be made by the behavior team pending circumstance. Feta does not have history with cats and requires a separated, slow introduction. Feta should meet all members of the household prior to going home and would do best in a home without children under 5 due to his energy and size.
How to Foster Feta:
