I had a dog and a cat at the same time. The dog was 13 1/2 years old and the cat was 20 1/2 years old. I had to make the decision to let my dog go. He was in very very poor health, and his back legs gave out on him. I’d had him since he was eight weeks old.

Before I could bring another dog into the house, I had to wait till my cat died. My cat died about six months after I had to put the dog down. I buried him in my flower garden in front of my house. The next day after the cat died I was on Facebook and saw a post from the Humane Society of Huron Valley with a dog named Jacks. As soon as I saw him, I immediately knew I was going to go get this dog. So I called you guys and they said yes he was still available. They also advised me there would be no charge because he had been at the shelter for over seven months. I thought this is getting better and better. I called up my friend and we headed over to the shelter.

As soon as I got to the front desk, I asked them where I could find Jack’s and they pointed the way. He was laying on his pillow. Just nice and quiet look like he was sleeping. Dozens of dogs, barking, and making all kinds of noise but it did not bother Jacks. He was just sleeping away. I knew immediately before I even took him on his walk he was coming home with me. He is very well behaved. I’ve had him now approximately six months. He listens very well, and he plays really really rough. I haven’t been able to locate any toys that he does not destroy.
