Melon is a small, fearful dog who is very sensitive to touch and handling. He has been too nervous to come out of his shell in the shelter and we are hoping we may be able to see him settle in and build trust with people in the home setting. He came in as a stray and we do not have any history on him. So far he has not been interested any pets and has been uncomfortable with people touching him. He also has not been comfortable enough to go on walks here. He will be most successful in an environment where he can have his own space and get comfortable at his own pace. He will need a foster who is comfortable reading body language and understands working with fearful dogs. Due to his level of fear he will be most successful as the only animal in an adult only home to give him the best chance of being able to relax and decompress in a calm environment.

How to Foster Melon:

New fosters can take the first step by learning about fostering and signing up to become a new foster. Veteran foster parents can email fosters@hshv.org to schedule a pickup appointment.
