Age: 2  Sex: Female   Breed: Pitbull Mix   Weight: 47 lbs    Restrictions: No Dogs, No Kids Under 5

Nyx recently returned to the shelter and would benefit from living in foster. She is young, energetic dog who will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training to work on basic manners. She is quite food motivated and loves learning, and already has some basic cues from her time working with staff and volunteers at the shelter. She can be nervous around new people and dogs, but warms up quickly with a slow, gentle approach. She has enjoyed playing with other dogs, but does resource guard from them, so any interactions need management and monitoring. For her success she would likely be most comfortable as the only dog in the home. We do not have any history on her with cats, so fosters would need the ability to separate and introduce slowly in the home. Due to her excitable, jumpy, mouthy behavior, she would do best with kids over 5.

How to Foster Nyx:

New fosters can take the first step by learning about fostering and signing up to become a new foster. Veteran foster parents can email fosters@hshv.org to schedule a pickup appointment.
