Pelican is a big, strong guy who has been at the shelter since July. We would love to get him out into a foster home to get a break from the shelter or until he is adopted! He has responded well to basic training here, and would likely be more responsive to continuing training in a calmer environment. He does need to meet dog siblings to make sure they are a good match, as he can be a bit oblivious as to whether other dogs want to interact with him. He has been able to interact calmly with children here, but would do best with kids over 5 due to his size/strength. He has shown some prey drive and we do not have any history with cats, so he would need a separate space and ability to slowly introduce if living with any cats in foster.

How to Foster Pelican:

New fosters can take the first step by learning about fostering and signing up to become a new foster. Veteran foster parents can email fosters@hshv.org to schedule a pickup appointment.
