Meet Rocky Balboa! He was an owner surrender due to his medical condition. He is going to need a medical foster. He has abnormally thin skin, that tears very easily if he scratches himself. It also causes his wounds to heal slower than normal. We are currently giving him daily steroid injections due to his condition. He is the absolute sweetest boy but would need a special medical foster who can administer his sub-q injections daily. For this kiddo we are alternating between his back legs. One day he will get one in the right leg then next day he will get one in the left. He is decent for his injections and could do fine with a good towel wrap if you are an experienced person. Otherwise, it would be easiest if you had a person to help. One person hold and one person poke. Rocky will need to wear a cone whenever he can not be monitored to help eliminate the risk of him injuring himself or creating more wounds on his skin. He needs a home without other cats, dogs, or small kids or at the very least has his own private space to be isolated away from harms way.
How to Foster Rocky Balboa:
New fosters can take the first step by learning about fostering and signing up to become a new foster. Veteran foster parents can email fosters@hshv.org to schedule a pickup appointment.
