After 26 years with cats, followed by 4 years without, I was chosen by Sassy Vanilla to be her person! When I came to see her at HSHV she was very scared so they had her isolated in her own room and she had a blanket covering her cat tree so she could hide. The volunteer told me that Sassy Vanilla hides from everyone, in fact, a couple came that morning to look at her but she would not come out. He told me not to feel bad if she won’t come out.
Well, as soon as he opened the door and I entered the room gently saying, “Hi, Sassy”, I saw a tail pop up under the blanket. I kept gently speaking to her, and uncovered the blanket from over her head. Such a pretty kitty! She let me pet her. What a sweetheart! I softly sang to her… Oh, the purrs! One final test… I needed to know she would be okay with me practicing my flute. I played a video of me playing… She leaned into me and… Purrrrrrrr! She picked me!!!
Her surrender name was Sassy Q, then HSHV changed it to Sassy Vanilla. To match her personality and magnificence, I changed it to SassPurrilla, but I call her Sassy or Sass for short.
SassPurrilla has adjusted well to her new home. She greets me in the morning with nuzzles, purrs, and kisses. Such a love! She loves to play with her toys, sleep in a sunspot (solar charging!), watch over the garden from behind the sliding glass doors, and curl up on the window seat. She snuggles up close when I watch TV, and sleeps on my bed at night. I love when she shakes out her fur to fluff it up! She’s so beautiful! I love her and I’m so happy we found each other. 💕
