Scooby Doo has been in and out of the shelter over the past few months due to changing life circumstances with his previous owner. He has been very overwhelmed by the constant changes in his life and the busy shelter environment and needs to get out of a kennel. He previously lived with a dog in his home and does enjoy participating in play groups with this dog but has not been comfortable meeting new dogs here at the shelter and would likely be most successful transitioning to a home environment with no other dogs at this time – right now the priority is letting him decompress in a home and providing routine and stability.

From what we have seen at the shelter he seems to enjoy stuffed toys and likes to engage with food enrichment in his kennel. He was nervous of people when first brought in but warmed up to staff quickly and seems generally comfortable with people when not completely overwhelmed. Life in a kennel behind a barrier has been hard for him, he is easily frustrated by the confinement of the kennel and will frequently bark at people and dogs who pass and has a hard time recovering from the stress. Managing access to things like windows where he can watch and bark at things will be helpful for reducing his stress levels. The behavior team is available to assist in creating a plan to manage any barrier or leash reactivity he may display in a foster home.
