My partner and I used to visit HSHV at least once a week to see all the animals, and we had been thinking about getting a cat for a while, but wanted to wait till we found the right cat for us. One day we went as usual and we didn’t have any intention of coming home with a pet that day, but when we saw Ronaldo (now Link) in his cage we instantly knew he’d be ours! He was the sweetest boy from the very beginning, allowing lots of pets and wanting to play. All of the staff were

A Diamond in the Ruff
My wife and I adopted Baby (now named Molly) this past February. Molly came to HSHV at only 71 lbs. for a dog of her size, with ribs prominent through her torso. A year and a day (would have been exactly a year if it wasn’t a leap year) we had to say goodbye to our previous dog. Our angel dog and Cami both have hearts on their noses. We didn’t think that we were ready for another dog,

Tobias was waiting for me!
I had looked at many cats and kittens at different rescues and societies. I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t connecting with any of the cats I was meeting. And then I went to HSHV. My kitten was there waiting for me! The minute the staff handed him to me wrapped like a burrito in a blanket, he acted like he was mine. He confidently licked my nose (he still does this) and when I put him back in his cage he seemed to be saying, “Aren’t we going home now?” Fast forward two years and he’s still thanking me
