Sir Ashton finds his forever home!

In October, a surprise visitor showed up in our backyard — a sweet, scruffy cat who we later learned was Sir Ashton, a senior kitty who had been missing from his foster home for several months. We didn’t know his story at first, but from the moment we met him, it was clear he had a gentle spirit and a whole lot of love to give. We welcomed him in, gave him a warm place to rest, and soon after, officially made him part of our family — now under the name Jet. Despite being 15, Jet is absolutely thriving.

Romeo’s Forever Home!

On June 19th 2024 my boyfriend and I went to HSHV to “just look” at the dogs. While walking around petting and saying hi we ended up walking three different dogs. The last dog was Romeo and we both instantly fell in love. A few days later we brought him home and he was a happy, cuddly, and energetic guy. We chose the name Romeo because he’s such a lover boy. He loves his walks, playing with friends, chewing his bones, toys, and cardboard boxes, and snuggling. We are so incredibly happy we adopted him, and now have a new

Turn scared sun conure

After reaching out to them, we were told they had a history of being biters and unable to be handled. I spent 5 minutes talking softly with them and telling them they were okay.  In the first minutes of my opening the carrier, they decided to climb up my hand and up on my shoulder…   Rocky and Norman now Sunset and Sunburst

Winnie has found her forever home!

My partner and I had been wanting to adopt our own dog for quite some time now, and we decided to bring in the new year with a new pup! We came to HSHV to find the right dog for us, and after going on one visit to the shelter, no one caught our eye. Upon our second visit, we saw (TiTi) Winnie. She was circulating her crate while holding a stuffie in her mouth and wiggling her butt from side to side (things she still does every single day). We really wanted to give her a forever home after

Kairi Completes Our Pack

Back in November, we had to say goodbye to our bestest boy of 14 years. We knew we wanted to bring another dog into our family and we had our sights set on the summer. Then the summer became the spring. Spring soon became the New Year and before we knew it we found ourselves falling in love with the toothy grin of Poppy. She joined our pack, now Kairi, instantly connected with her German Shepard big sister Khaleesi, and fell in love with her new kitty brother and sister, Rooney and Hobbes (also HSHV adoptees!). Saying goodbye to our

Our missing puzzle pieces

We first got Owen and it was love at first sight. He was the first missing piece we found and we were so happy and excited to get him home. He became best friends with our miniature dachshund and they were best buds no breaking them up and because they both had separation anxiety they helped each other a lot. Then our miniature dachshund passed away and Owen was lost and sad, it broke our hearts and so when we were ready we came back to HSHV and that’s when we found Princess peach or as we call her Mama

Third Time’s the Charm for JoJo

When I first met JoJo I instantly fell in love with him. Upon bringing him home to my apartment, he immediately ran to hide under the couch and spent his first few days with me hiding and barely eating. But now, about 4 months later, he is just the sweetest cat. JoJo was specifically described to me as “not a lap cat”, but he begs to differ and crawls up onto my lap to cuddle or try to steal my food at least once a day. We spend every evening cuddling on the couch together before he follows me to

Kylo’s adventure

When we walked in we saw him reaching through the crate. We learned that he had been returned the day before and we knew we wanted to adopt him! Since we got him he was less than 2 pounds and really small and he’s now bigger than our full grown cat at 8 months old! He loves the outside and water strangely enough. He loves running in the snow and bothering his sister! Oh and car rides as well loves those. He’s our adventure cat! Colin Bridgerton now Kylo
