I got Cooper when he was being fostered by my aunt. He was doing very poorly in the shelter and Julie convinced me to come out and meet him. He was a little shy and very skinny but I really liked him. Its been almost a year now and he spends his time hanging out with me while I work and chasing any and all tennis balls.

Bunny’s Forever Home 💕
After several years of being furbaby-less we decided it was time to add to our family! After suggestions from coworkers we made the 45 min trip to HSHV. I am so thankful we did! Not only was the facility amazing, but they really set you up to be the best furbaby parents ever! We ventured out, not really planning on finding the perfect dog for us. We saw so many absolutely adorable dogs, with well-maintained and clear profiles on each one. We spotted our sweet Bunny boo. We were able to visit with her in the little dog park out

The Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) applauds the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners for the Washtenaw County Resolution in Support of Teddy’s Law passed Wednesday, March 16, 2022. The resolution notes that though it is standard practice for research facilities to kill the dogs and cats “at the end of their use… companion animals used in research can and should be given a chance at finding a loving home.” “Teddy’s Law,” named after a former research beagle, was introduced into the Michigan State House by Representatives Kevin Hertel (D) and Tommy Brann (R) over a year ago, but has

Dozen Finds His Furever Home
Dozen now Dozer We lost our 13 year old pitty mix 1.5 years ago and have a 3 year old Golden Retriever (Tucker) who was needing a buddy bad. We had been looking for a little while trying to find a dog that would fit best into our family. I ended up having a long break at work one day and decided to go to HSHV and take a dog or two on a walk. I was in no way expecting to meet the perfect pup that day, but I did. The first dog I took on a walk (Dozen

Brilliant Brownie Troop #40058
Troop #40058 is full of very kind kids! They all love animals and wanted to do a community service project to help out the animals at HSHV. For their project, the troop worked hard by gathering blankets, towels, peanut butter, and other helpful donations through their school. They then brought these wonderful donations here to the shelter for all of the animals to enjoy. Thank you so much, Troop #40058! Your kindness and compassion is appreciated by all of us, and the animals as well!

Marvelous Mitch
Mitch is such a kind kid! Mitch celebrated his birthday at HSHV. Instead of asking for gifts for his birthday, he asked for donations to give to the animals at the shelter. Mitch was very inspired by all of our volunteers who come every day to help our animals. He wanted to help himself, so he donated food, treats, and money for all of our homeless animals. Thank you, Mitch, for your kindness and generosity on your birthday! Happy birthday from all of us and the animals!

My Cancer Caregivers
Max & Leo now Bing & Banks In 2018, while going through a challenging time in my life, I adopted Bing and Banks. “The Boys” have helped me through many ups and downs since they were just kittens, and most recently, they comforted me during my cancer diagnosis and treatment. Every night we cuddled. When I didn’t feel well, they sat right by me, always with a paw gently set on me. In my worst days, their little meows and purrs made me smile. I can’t imagine my life without them!

Great Dog
We had lost our 16 year old whippet in October 2020, and my husband and I wanted to wait for at least a year before we get a new dog. Days went to months of grieving, and our house was never the same. A week before my birthday on February 25, 2021 my husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I just said I wanted to adopt a dog. I knew we’d agreed to wait, we’re not replacing Alex, there’s a lot of dogs at the shelter waiting for their forever home. On Feb. 26 we went to
