Happy in her new home!!

When I first saw Bev on the HSHV website, I thought she was the most beautiful cat in the world and had to get her!! When we did get her, we discovered that she was taken in as a stray who was already declawed 🙁 We couldn’t imagine what the poor girl had gone through. When we took her home, she had an ulcer in her left eye and was very bony. After a couple weeks, it all healed up, and Hollie was able to enjoy her new home and is slowly warming up every day! She getting a little

ALL HAIL QUEEN KHLOE!

JK Rowling, now known as Khloe, has made her mark in this home after a warm bath, pedicure, blow dry, brushing and warm food. She’s purring and approves of her two story, 1400 square foot home she now reins. All hail, Queen Khloe! She’s majestic; she’s funny; she’s quite the cuddle queen! She also is vocal; she now calls for me when I leave the room which tells me she is just as in love with me as I am with her. She’s made her mark in our home with her majestic stance and poise. She knows what she wants,

Not an orphan Annie

I went to the Humane Society of Huron Valley because my dog passed away suddenly and I needed a new pet in my life. Getting another dog wasn’t something I was ready to do, so I began looking at cats. After a few visits, I saw Annie on the website, and I had a feeling she would be a good cat. I visited her and she just purred and purred, so I took her home. She’s the perfect dog-like cat, and I am so happy she is in my life!   Annie (still Annie)

Happy 9th Birthday!

Nine years ago today, this girl came into the world, someplace in Louisiana and rode the HSHV Love Train when she was old enough. I was lucky enough to be picked out by her to bring her home with me. She is a great example of a “pit mix.” She is sassy, funny, kind and loving. She has taught more than one foster how to “dog” and put more than one in their place. She can be trouble; she counter surfs and is overly possessive of me at times. She’s gotten into a couple pretty ugly scuffles with a couple

Wrestling buddies

When we adopted Watt (right, now Osgood, HSHV, 5-20-18), we soon realized he was far from the 7 year old lay-about kitty we were expecting. While we were happy to entertain him in the evenings, we wanted him to have a buddy to play with while we were at work. We adopted Castiel (left, now Mercury, Tiny Lions Center, 11-11-18) and I’m happy to say they have become fast friends and wrestling buddies, always entertaining us with their antics. Ozzy likes to drag his wand toys and “snakes” around the house and even sometimes brings them into the bed at

Two names, a Passport, and a new job

Two years ago, in November 2017, I walked into HSHV telling myself I was just looking. My boyfriend had recently moved across the country for law school, and I was having a hard time adjusting to living alone. As I walked around visiting the different cats, one senior black cat named “Newington” would not stop meowing and staring at me like he was trying to hypnotize me into letting him out. When a volunteer opened his cage for me, he climbed straight into my arms and began to nuzzle my face. He refused to be put down! That was the

Sniffles is happy & healthy

On Christmas Eve 2017 my husband and three teenage boys went to HSHV to adopt a cat for me. Our previous cat had died at age 21 over a year prior, and our house was never the same. There, they found “Sniffles.” She was one-year-old and the sweetest most loving cat. She was sick when they brought her home, and with medication, she was healthy in no time. She continues to be the nicest, sweetest cat I have ever met. She loves the boys and takes turns whose room and which family member she sleeps and cuddles with. She quickly

LuLu from the Love Train!

I came across this site and saw several of our puppy’s siblings on here! This is LuLu, formerly Monica, who was adopted in February or March 2017 from HSHV. She was on the Love Train from Tennessee. She was in a crate with her sister, somewhat shy in the back. She is no longer shy! She’s our spunky girl, super loving and cuddly but small and mighty, too! She totally dominates our black Lab! Super smart and easy to train. We love her!   Monica now LuLu

Little Vito stole out heart

In June 2017, we suddenly lost one of my 2 Bengals unexpectedly. His brother was lost without a sibling. I adopted Little Vito, and he and Clemenza have been best friends ever since.   Garfield now Little Vito

Della’s new home

To Della’s original family — After my husband’s death last February, I went to HSHV looking for a feline companion. Being a senior citizen myself, I wanted a senior cat. Della’s information sheet said that she was 9 years old, and that you had to surrender her because you were moving and couldn’t take her. I know that it must have broken your heart because she is such a sweet cat. She especially likes to sit in her cat tree and watch the birds through the kitchen window. Thank you for bringing her to the HSHV and not just abandoning
